SEOUL: The number of students registering for the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) in Seoul has surpassed 110,000 this year, marking a modest increase from the previous year's figures. The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced that this year's exam, scheduled for November 14, will see 110,734 high school seniors and graduates taking part, reflecting an increase of 3,311 test-takers compared to last year. According to Yonhap News Agency, high school students represent 53.6 percent of the total test-takers, while graduates account for 42.9 percent. To facilitate a smooth examination process, approximately 19,300 teachers and public officials will be deployed across 226 test sites throughout the city. In response to incidents from the previous year, the education office is introducing measures to protect exam supervisors from potential personal attacks by parents. This year, supervisors' name tags will display only a serial number, omitting their names. This change follows an incident where a parent verbally abused a CSAT supervisor after their child was caught cheating. The office's decision aims to prevent similar occurrences and ensure the well-being of supervisors during the examination period.
