‘Single’s Inferno’ Fifth Season Returns in January

Seoul: Netflix's popular dating reality show "Single's Inferno" is set to make a comeback with its fifth season in January, the streaming giant announced on Tuesday. This season will be notable as it becomes the first Korean series to be renewed for a fifth installment, with its release slated for January 20.

According to Yonhap News Agency, "Single's Inferno" has captivated audiences by showcasing attractive young singles seeking romance on a secluded island. The unique aspect of the show is that finding a romantic match is the only way for participants to gain entry to "Paradise," a luxurious getaway reserved for couples. The engaging format has sparked a flurry of online reactions, with numerous reaction videos and YouTube shorts contributing to the show's widespread popularity.

The series debuted in December 2021 and quickly made history as the first Korean unscripted show to enter Netflix's Global Top 10 Non-English Series chart. Each subsequent season has maintained a strong presence on the chart, with the second season staying for four weeks and the third extending its run to five consecutive weeks. The fourth season, meanwhile, set a franchise record with the highest first-week viewership.

Earlier this year, Kim Jae-won, one of the show's three producers, emphasized that physical attractiveness will continue to be a primary criterion for participant selection in the upcoming season. He noted that viewers are drawn to watching even the most attractive individuals face heartbreak and challenges, likening the show to the Premier League of the dating world.
