Seoul: SK hynix Inc. announced a record annual operating profit of 47.2 trillion won (US$33.1 billion) in 2025, driven by robust demand for high bandwidth memory (HBM) products in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector. This achievement marks more than a twofold increase from 2024, as revealed in a regulatory filing by the South Korean semiconductor company.
According to Yonhap News Agency, SK hynix's sales reached 97.1 trillion won, reflecting a 46.8 percent rise from the previous year. Both operating profit and sales figures set new records for the company. In the fourth quarter, SK hynix recorded a net income of 15.24 trillion won, marking a 90.4 percent increase from the same period last year.

These fourth-quarter earnings surpassed market expectations, as analysts had predicted an average net profit of 13.49 trillion won, according to a Yonhap Infomax survey.
"In the fourth quarter, demand rose for both HBM products and general-purpose memory chips, allowing us to post record quarterly results by proactively responding to the market," SK hynix stated, emphasizing the fresh highs in operating profit and sales. The company also announced plans to cancel treasury shares valued at 12.2 trillion won.
