SME and Land Minister Nominees to Face Parliamentary Confirmation Hearings

Seoul: The nominees for the positions of small and medium enterprises (SME) minister and land minister are set to face parliamentary confirmation hearings on September 15 and 16, respectively. This was announced by officials on Wednesday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Lee So-young, who has been nominated for the SME Minister position, is a two-term lawmaker from the ruling Democratic Party. Meanwhile, Hong Jee-sun, the nominee for Land Minister, currently serves as the vice land minister. Both nominees were selected by President Lee Jae Myung on Sunday as part of a significant Cabinet reshuffle.

The dates for the confirmation hearings were determined on Wednesday by the parliamentary trade committee for the SME Minister nominee and the parliamentary land committee for the Land Minister nominee. While all minister nominees are legally required to go through the confirmation process, it is only the prime minister who requires parliamentary consent for appointment by the president.
