South Korea and African Nations Discuss Economic Ties

SEOUL - Trade Minister Cheong In-kyo recently met with Wamkele Mene, the secretary-general of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), to discuss expanding economic relations between South Korea and Africa.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the meeting highlighted the significance of AfCFTA, especially amid increasing global protectionism. The discussion centered on strengthening sustainable and long-term economic partnerships, with a focus on the upcoming summit in Seoul this June between South Korea and African nations. Cheong also sought support from Mene for South Korea's efforts to establish economic partnership agreements with Morocco, Kenya, and Tanzania, aiming to enhance trade and investment ties with these countries.
