South Korea and Australia Enhance Indo-Pacific Cooperation

SEOUL — South Korea’s special representative for the Indo-Pacific, Chung Kee-yong, engaged in pivotal discussions with Elly Lawson, an Australian deputy secretary, on Wednesday to bolster security and collaborative efforts in the region.

According to Yonhap News Agency, both parties expressed a commitment to closely coordinate their Indo-Pacific strategies, reflecting shared values and mutual interests. They also emphasized the importance of strategic communication and the formalization of their cooperative initiatives. The dialogue follows Australia's recent establishment of the Geostrategy and Partnerships Division aimed at strengthening ties with key partners including the U.S., U.K., Canada, South Korea, and Japan, and influencing the activities of the Quad alliance.
