South Korea and Britain Prepare for Joint AI Summit in Seoul

Seoul, South Korea — South Korea and Britain are gearing up for a joint artificial intelligence (AI) summit scheduled for next month in Seoul, as confirmed by Seoul’s Ministry of Science and ICT. Minister Lee Jong-ho and his British counterpart, Michelle Donelan, recently held a video meeting to review the progress of the preparations for the AI Seoul Summit, set for May 21 and 22.

According to Yonhap News Agency, This summit follows the AI Safety Summit hosted in England last November, which saw participation from countries such as South Korea, the United States, Britain, Japan, and Germany. The agenda for the upcoming summit includes a virtual meeting of national leaders to discuss AI safety, innovation promotion, and an inclusive future, followed by a ministerial meeting on subsequent cooperation areas. Additionally, the AI Global Forum will convene, bringing together senior officials, industry leaders, and academics worldwide. According to Minister Lee, the summit aims to establish significant milestones in developing global AI principles and governance.
