Addis Ababa - Veterans Minister Kang Jung-ai engaged in discussions with Ethiopia's Defense Minister Aisha Mohammed about increasing support for Ethiopian veterans of the 1950-53 Korean War.
According to Yonhap News Agency, The talks took place in Addis Ababa. According to the Veterans Ministry, during the meeting held on Tuesday, Minister Kang expressed gratitude for Ethiopia's participation in the Korean War. She advocated for enhanced cooperation to provide more substantial support for the surviving Ethiopian veterans and to offer scholarships for their descendants. Minister Mohammed emphasized South Korea's significant role in Ethiopia and agreed on the necessity of expanding such collaborations. Additionally, Minister Kang visited the Myungsung Christian Medical Center, which provides free medical services to veterans, where she met with those currently receiving care. Ethiopia was one of the 22 nations that contributed troops or medical assistance under the U.N. flag during the three-year conflict, which concluded with a truce but not a peace treaty.
