South Korea and Japan Industry Ministers Convene in Tokyo for Talks

TOKYO - Industry ministers from South Korea and Japan met in Tokyo on Monday, marking the first such formal meeting in six years. The talks focused on enhancing cooperation between companies from the two countries amidst efforts to mend diplomatic ties, stated the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy.

According to Yonhap News Agency, During the meeting, South Korean Industry Minister Ahn Duk-geun and his Japanese counterpart, Ken Saito, discussed a variety of issues concerning industry, trade, and energy. Minister Ahn emphasized the importance of developing a close bilateral partnership to address global challenges, reflecting the recent diplomatic initiatives by South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to improve relations after years of tension. The ministers also agreed to organize a trilateral summit involving the United States, expected to occur within the first half of this year, underscoring a commitment to expanded regional cooperation.
