South Korea and Liaoning Province Discuss Strengthening Economic Ties

Seoul - In a meeting held Tuesday in Seoul, South Korean Trade Minister Chung In-kyo and Hao Peng, the Party Secretary of Liaoning Province, discussed strategies to enhance bilateral economic cooperation and support for South Korean businesses in the region. The talks, facilitated by Seoul’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, emphasized creating a stable and predictable business environment for South Korean firms operating in Liaoning.

According to Yonhap News Agency, During the discussions, Secretary Hao acknowledged the critical role South Korean companies play in the provincial economy and committed to bolstering support for their operations and fostering stronger economic ties. Liaoning, which is the largest provincial economy in Northeast China, hosts approximately 5,000 South Korean companies including major corporations like POSCO Holdings Inc., Lotte Chemical Corp., CJ Corp., and Nongshim Co. With bilateral trade reaching $9.03 billion in 2023, South Korea remains a key trade partner for Liaoning, second only to Japan.
