SEOUL — South Korea and Poland have agreed to set up a consultative body between their air forces, aiming to enhance military cooperation. This move follows Poland's substantial acquisition of Korean-made military equipment, including fighter jets.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the agreement to establish this consultative body was recently reached by the air forces of the two nations, with discussions ongoing about specific details such as the timing of its inauguration. The body is intended to facilitate bilateral discussions on a range of military issues, including strategies, tactics, and defense industry cooperation.
Poland has become one of the largest purchasers of South Korean defense products in recent years, with significant acquisitions in 2022 that included FA-50 fighter jets, K9 self-propelled howitzers, and K2 battle tanks. The new consultative body will enable both countries to exchange operational expertise on the FA-50 jets and explore further cooperative ventures such as a pilot exchange program.
Moreover, discussions within this body are expected to cover the potential export of South Korea's newly mass-produced KF-21 Boramae multirole fighters to Poland, enhancing the strategic military bond between the two nations.
