According to Yonhap News Agency, The foreign ministry's spokesperson, Lim Soo-suk, emphasized during a press briefing that the summit, which aims to bolster democratic governance and address authoritarian trends globally, is not directed at any particular country. This statement came after China expressed its discontent over Taiwan's participation, urging South Korea to respect the "One China" policy. Despite these pressures, Taiwan's Digital Affairs Minister Audrey Tang delivered a video message at the summit, designated as a private individual. South Korea maintained its commitment to diplomatic protocols while facilitating inclusive dialogue on democracy, with prior consultations conducted with concerned nations regarding participation and representation at the event.
