South Korea Coach Emphasizes Team Unity Over Individual Achievement

Yongin:After concluding his first four-match window as temporary head coach for South Korea with a win on Tuesday, Robert Moreno emphasized the importance of team unity. The men's national football team secured a 2-0 victory over Uzbekistan at Yongin Mireu Stadium, located about 40 kilometers south of Seoul. Despite the win, some questions remain regarding the team's overall performance.

According to Yonhap News Agency, a goalless draw against Venezuela last Friday left a sour taste, with defender Kim Min-jae criticizing teammates and midfielder Hwang In-beom expressing concerns about team issues. Moreno, appointed in early September, expressed his desire for a stronger foundation for the national team's philosophy, stating that players should prioritize team goals over personal ambitions.

Moreno's tenure began with a 3-0 victory over Ecuador, followed by a 4-1 loss to Uruguay and the draw against Venezuela. In Tuesday's match against Uzbekistan, Moreno noted that the team's desired style of play began to take shape as they battled through challenging moments.

South Korea utilized a 4-4-2 formation across all four matches, and Moreno is focused on developing a system that maximizes the players' strengths. He mentioned his interest in young talent from the under-23 national team, which recently won the Asian Games gold medal in Japan, and encouraged them to remain competitive for potential inclusion in the senior team.
