South Korea Congratulates Iran’s New President Masoud Pezeshkian

SEOUL - The South Korean government officially congratulated Masoud Pezeshkian on his election as the new president of Iran, highlighting hopes for strengthened ties and regional stability. Pezeshkian, a reformist, secured the presidency in a runoff election held on Friday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korea is optimistic about the prospects of enhanced relations with Iran under Pezeshkian's leadership. "We wish Iran a path of prosperity and development under the new government, contributing constructively to regional stability. We look forward to further enhancing our friendly relations with Iran," stated the Ministry. The election followed the unexpected death of former president Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash in May.
