PARIS — South Korea has guaranteed itself gold and silver medals in the women's archery individual event at the Paris Olympics, with archers Lim Si-hyeon and Nam Su-hyeon advancing to the finals. The final match is set to occur later Saturday at Invalides, marking a significant achievement for the nation renowned for its archery prowess.
According to Yonhap News Agency, a third South Korean competitor, Jeon Hun-young, contended for bronze but was defeated 6-4 by France's Lisa Barbelin just after losing to Lim in the semifinals. This outcome thwarted what would have been South Korea's third Olympic podium sweep in this event, following similar feats at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Prior to Saturday, South Korea had already captured all three archery golds awarded at these games: in the women's team, men's team, and mixed team events. Lim, who played a pivotal role in these victories, is poised to add a third gold medal to her Paris haul.
