SEOUL — South Korean envoys have declared that strengthening partnerships with African nations is essential, not optional, in light of the upcoming Korea-Africa Summit. Speaking anonymously, one envoy highlighted Africa's strategic importance in global diplomacy, noting that South Korea's unique historical development experience could offer valuable insights to African countries.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the envoys stressed the need for South Korea to differentiate its cooperation approach from other countries like China and Japan, emphasizing tailored strategies that leverage South Korea's post-colonial development experience.
The first Korea-Africa Summit, scheduled for early June in Seoul, will focus on enhancing diplomatic and economic ties, with South Korea aiming to cement its role as a pivotal global state through strengthened relations with the 55-member African Union.
