South Korea Establishes Dedicated Cemetery for Police Dogs

IMSIL—In a move to honor the contributions of police dogs, the Police Human Resources Development Institute has partnered with the government of Imsil to establish a dedicated burial site at South Korea's only animal cemetery.

According to Yonhap News Agency, The agreement, signed on Wednesday, will see both entities collaborate to secure burial grounds at the Osu Pet Memorial Park located in Imsil, 218 kilometers southwest of Seoul. This initiative also includes covering funeral costs for the dogs. The agreement responds to increasing demands for the dignified treatment of police dogs, which play essential roles in various police tasks ranging from life-saving operations to aiding scientific investigations. Park Sung-joo, director of the Police Human Resources Development Institute, expressed hope that this agreement would lay the groundwork for promoting the respectful treatment of police dogs in the future.
