South Korea Re-elected to Executive Boards of WFP and UNICEF for 2025-27

SEOUL — South Korea has secured re-election to the executive boards of both the World Food Program (WFP) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) for the term spanning 2025 to 2027. The country was successful in retaining its positions during the elections conducted at a session of the U.N. Economic and Social Council.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the executive boards, which comprise 36 member states, are tasked with setting policy directions and overseeing the management of each organization's activities. South Korea joins the ranks of the Czech Republic, India, Mali, Norway, and Sweden on the WFP board. This election marks South Korea's third consecutive term on the WFP board, having been a member since 2019. Meanwhile, for the UNICEF board, South Korea will be one of the thirteen nations participating, marking its 10th tenure since first being elected in 1988.
