South Korea Sees Decrease in COVID-19 Cases for Third Consecutive Week

South Korea - The number of COVID-19 cases in South Korea continued to decline for the third consecutive week in November.

According to Yonhap News Agency, The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency reported on Thursday that there were 6,088 new COVID-19 patients last week, a 2 percent decrease from the 6,216 cases recorded the previous week.

The report also indicated a gradual decline in COVID-19 cases since the beginning of November. In the first week of the month, there was a slight 1 percent decrease in patient numbers, following a 19 percent rise in the week before. Among the new cases reported last week, individuals aged 60 and above represented 34.4 percent, a decrease of 4.8 percentage points compared to the previous week.

On August 31, the government downgraded the infection level of COVID-19 to Class 4, the lowest level, equating it with the seasonal flu. This downgrade reflects a significant shift in the management of the pandemic, as South Korea continues to adapt to the evolving situation.
