Seoul:South Korea has successfully test-launched its first hypersonic glide vehicle (HGV), with President Lee Jae Myung observing the event, according to the presidential office.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the test launch aimed to verify crucial hypersonic technologies such as flight trajectories and speed. The new HGV is considered a strategic asset capable of executing surprise precision strikes against enemy targets.
Presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung provided a written briefing to the press, highlighting the significance of this developmental milestone in advancing South Korea's defense capabilities.
