Seoul:President Lee Jae Myung has issued a warning to Ukraine, indicating that South Korea may take "additional measures" if Ukraine continues to deny an agreement to keep the transfer of North Korean prisoners of war (POWs) confidential.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the tension arose after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's unexpected disclosure of the transfer of two North Korean POWs to South Korea. This revelation has led to a diplomatic dispute, with South Korea accusing Ukraine of breaching a bilateral agreement intended to maintain secrecy over the transfer.
Ukraine has denied the existence of any such confidentiality agreement. In response, President Lee stated on his X account that without an official apology from Ukraine, South Korea will proceed with further actions.
