South Korea to Compete in Olympic Football Qualifying Tournament

Doha – South Korea is set to face Japan, China, and the United Arab Emirates in the upcoming Asian qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic men's football tournament. The draw for the 2024 Asian Football Confederation U-23 Asian Cup, which will serve as the qualifying tournament, took place on Thursday in Doha, Qatar. South Korea will compete in Group B of the tournament. The official X page of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) displayed the draw results.

According to Yonhap News Agency, In the tournament, there will be four groups, each consisting of four countries. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage. The top three teams from the U-23 Asian Cup will secure their spots in the 2024 Paris Olympics, while the fourth-placed team will face Guinea, the fourth-placed team from the African qualifiers, in a playoff match. Under the guidance of coach Hwang Sun-hong, South Korea aims to qualify for their tenth consecutive Olympics. The U-23 Asian Cup is scheduled to start on April 15 and conclude on May 3.
