South Korea to Repatriate Remains of 25 Chinese Soldiers from Korean War

SEOUL - The South Korean defense ministry announced plans to return the remains of 25 Chinese soldiers killed during the 1950-53 Korean War to China next week. This marks the tenth instance of such repatriation since South Korea and China agreed on the project in 2014. The handover ceremony is scheduled to take place at Incheon International Airport and will be jointly organized by South Korea’s Ministry of National Defense and China's Ministry of Veterans Affairs.

According to Yonhap News Agency, To date, South Korea has returned a total of 913 sets of remains of Chinese troops, reflecting ongoing humanitarian efforts and friendly cooperation between the two nations. The Korean War, which ended with an armistice and not a peace treaty, involved China and the Soviet Union supporting North Korea, while South Korea received backing from United Nations forces, primarily led by the United States.
