SEOUL – South Korea has extended its support for the newly established interim government in Bangladesh, expressing hope for the restoration of peace and order in the country. This statement comes in the wake of recent political upheavals that led to the formation of the interim government under the leadership of Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the interim government, which took power on August 8 following the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina amid large-scale student protests, marks a significant transitional phase for Bangladesh. The protests, fueled by opposition to the job quota system, had escalated into violence, resulting in over 300 deaths nationwide. The ministry conveyed its anticipation of swift peace restoration and expressed eagerness to strengthen bilateral relations with Bangladesh under its new leadership, highlighting the potential for cooperative engagements between the two nations.
