South Korean Air Force to Participate in Multinational Desert Flag Exercise in UAE

SEOUL — The South Korean Air Force announced plans to participate in the Desert Flag exercise, a multinational military drill hosted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

According to Yonhap News Agency, the exercise will take place at Al Dhafra Air Base from this Friday to May 10, involving forces from 10 countries including the United States, Britain, and France.

The South Korean contingent includes 30 Air Force members, among them combat control team personnel tasked with special operations, who departed earlier today aboard a C-130H transport aircraft. During the exercise, they will focus on low-altitude infiltration, cargo drop operations, tactical landing operations, and enhancing capabilities in electronic warfare. The Air Force aims to improve its operational understanding of desert environments and assess its emergency deployment capabilities in the Middle East region. This marks South Korea's second participation in the exercise, following its inaugural involvement last year.
