South Korean and U.S. Diplomats to Discuss Bilateral Ties and Regional Issues

Seoul - Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul of South Korea and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken are set to discuss the bilateral alliance, democratic values, and issues related to the Korean Peninsula during a meeting in Seoul next week.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the talks are scheduled around a luncheon on Monday, coinciding with Blinken's visit for the Summit for Democracy. This gathering of democratic nations aims to reinforce solidarity and shared values such as freedom, human rights, and the rule of law. The meeting follows recent discussions between Cho and Blinken in Washington, marking their first face-to-face engagement since Cho assumed office in January. After Seoul, Blinken will head to the Philippines for trilateral discussions with Japan, likely focusing on the escalating tensions with China in the South China Sea.
