Harbin: South Korea will compete for gold medals in both men’s and women’s curling at the Asian Winter Games on Friday in China. Both teams cruised into their respective finals thanks to resounding semifinal victories on Thursday at Harbin Pingfang District Curling Arena in Harbin.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the men’s team, led by skip Lee Jae-beom, defeated Hong Kong 13-2, moments after the women’s team, with skip Gim Eun-ji in charge, triumphed over Kazakhstan 10-2. Both South Korean teams have remained unbeaten in Harbin.

In the men’s final, South Korea will face the Philippines, a team they previously defeated 6-1 during the round-robin stage on Sunday. The final match is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Friday local time, or 10 a.m. in South Korea.

The South Korean women’s team is set to compete against China in their final, starting at 1 p.m. Friday in Harbin, or 2 p.m. in Seoul. South Korea narrowly beat China 4-3 in their round-robin meeting earlier in the week on Tuesday.

Historically, South Korea claimed the men’s curling gold medals in 2003 and 2007, while their only women’s gold medal victory occurred in 2007.
