South Korean Investment Funds Experience Significant Growth in First Half of 2024

SEOUL — The net asset value of investment funds in South Korea saw a substantial increase in the first half of 2024, according to recent data. The total assets climbed to 1,069.5 trillion won ($771.8 billion) by the end of June, marking a rise of 98.1 trillion won from the beginning of the year.

According to Yonhap News Agency, this growth surpasses the 68 trillion-won increase recorded during the same period in 2023. The significant rise in the first half of this year was largely driven by gains in stock and bond funds, which increased by 18.6 trillion won and 18.7 trillion won, respectively. Notably, stock funds focused on overseas markets also experienced substantial growth, adding 16 trillion won to reach a total value of 56.7 trillion won. Additionally, private equity funds reached a net asset value of 653.6 trillion won by end-June, up 30.5 trillion won from six months earlier, highlighting robust investment activities across various sectors.
