Manila: A South Korean man was shot and killed during a robbery in Manila’s Malate district. The incident, which unfolded at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Friday, has raised concerns about the safety of South Korean nationals in the region.



According to Yonhap News Agency, the victim was attacked by two assailants while resisting an attempted robbery. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, the man succumbed to his injuries. The victim’s identity has not been disclosed.



Local authorities have commenced an investigation to identify the suspects and understand their motives. The Malate district, known for its Korea Town, attracts both locals and tourists, making it a bustling commercial area.



There has been a noticeable increase in violent crimes, including robberies and homicides, against South Korean expatriates and visitors in the Philippines compared to other nations. The incident underscores the need for increased safety measures for foreign nationals in the country.
