Nagoya:Nam Ji-sung and Park Ui-sung have advanced to the men's doubles final in tennis at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, putting South Korea within reach of their first tennis title in 12 years.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Nam and Park secured their spot in the final by defeating Ho Chenjui and Hsu Yu-hsiou of Chinese Taipei with a score of 2-1 (7-6 (7-3), 2-6, 11-9) in the semifinals held at the Higashiyama Park Tennis Center in Nagoya, central Japan.
The final, set for Friday, will see the South Korean team face off against Japan's Yusuke Kusuhara and Shunsuke Nakagawa, who emerged victorious against Jiang Fumin and Zhang Tianhui of China with a 2-1 (6-4, 0-6, 10-6) win in their semifinal match.
South Korea has not claimed an Asian Games tennis championship since Chung Hyeon and Lim Yong-kyu won the men's doubles gold medal in 2014. The South Korean team had initially aimed for four gold medals in tennis at this year's games, but their singles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles teams were eliminated early in the competition.
