South Korea’s Prime Minister Urges Comprehensive Preparations for Impending Torrential Rains

SEOUL — Prime Minister Han Duck-soo called for robust national measures on Tuesday to mitigate the impact of expected torrential downpours throughout the week. This proactive approach aims to safeguard vulnerable areas from severe weather conditions.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Prime Minister Han emphasized the necessity for a detailed review of evacuation protocols and safety measures, particularly in regions prone to landslides and flooding. He has directed officials to restrict access to high-risk areas and ordered government personnel, including police and firefighters, to operate an emergency response system continuously. These directives come as the greater Seoul area and southern regions of South Korea are already experiencing heavy rainfall, with advisories in place to alert residents to the potential dangers.
