South Korea’s Vice Defense Minister Kim Seon-ho to Participate in Xiangshan Forum in Beijing

SEOUL, - South Korea's Vice Defense Minister Kim Seon-ho is slated to attend an international defense forum in China next week to discuss regional security issues, according to defense officials in Seoul.

According to a news release by Yonhap News Agency, Kim, who assumed his role last week, will participate in the Xiangshan Forum from Sunday through Tuesday in Beijing. During the forum, Kim is anticipated to meet with counterparts from other nations for discussions on the Korean Peninsula's security landscape and Seoul's defense policies.

The Xiangshan Forum is an annual event that was initiated in 2006. The forum last convened in-person in 2019, as the COVID-19 pandemic led to the suspension of high-level events in China in the intervening years.

Additionally, the U.S. Department of Defense has announced its intention to send a delegation to this year's Xiangshan Forum, indicating a continuation of military engagement between the United States and China.
