Singapore: South Korean builder Ssangyong Engineering and Construction (EandC) Co. announced on Thursday that it has secured a US$2.1 billion contract to construct a general hospital in Singapore.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Ssangyong EandC was chosen as the exclusive contractor for the Tengah General Hospital project, commissioned by Singapore's Ministry of Health. This project represents the largest single contract ever obtained by the company.
The hospital will be located in the Tengah district in western Singapore and will feature seven buildings accommodating a total of 1,534 beds. The entire project, including the design phase, is expected to take 63 months to complete.
Ssangyong EandC has a history of constructing notable properties in Singapore, having previously built Marina Bay Sands, Raffles City, W Singapore, and Grand Hyatt Singapore.
