Suspect Arrested in Asan Bank Robbery

ASAN — A suspect was arrested on Friday in the city of Asan, accused of robbing a bank and fleeing with 100 million won (US$75,901), officials announced.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the individual, a man in his 50s, allegedly targeted a branch of the Korea Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives in Asan, located 83 kilometers south of Seoul, at approximately 4:20 p.m. Dressed in a mask and armed with a deadly weapon, the suspect threatened three bank employees, stole the money, and escaped in a vehicle belonging to one of the workers. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries from the incident.

Following an intensive search lasting several hours, law enforcement authorities apprehended the suspect at a shopping mall in Anseong, 64 kilometers southeast of Seoul, at 9:05 p.m. The police are currently conducting further investigations into the crime.
