In a thrilling final, Ban edged out her rival, Huang Yuting of China, in a shoot-off by a narrow margin.
According to Yonhap News Agency, both competitors tied the Olympic record with 251.8 points, leading to the decisive shoot-off at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre. Ban's final shot of 10.4 outscored Huang's 10.3, securing her the gold. This victory not only adds to South Korea's medal tally at the Paris Games but also represents the nation's 100th gold medal in the history of the Summer Olympics.
