PYEONGTAEK, SOUTH KOREA — Texas Governor Greg Abbott visited Samsung Electronics Co.'s semiconductor facility on Tuesday, where he praised the tech giant for its substantial investments in Texas. The visit highlighted the ongoing partnership between the state and one of South Korea's leading technology firms.
According to Yonhap News Agency, during his tour of Samsung's expansive Pyeongtaek Campus, located about 60 kilometers south of Seoul, Governor Abbott inspected the semiconductor production lines and various products. He was accompanied by Samsung Electronics officials, including Vice Chairman Jun Young-hyun, who is at the helm of the company's semiconductor operations. Governor Abbott expressed gratitude for Samsung’s commitment to invest a total of $40 billion in its facilities in Taylor and Austin, Texas by 2030. This investment marks a significant expansion of Samsung's presence in Texas, where it has been operating for 27 years. Prior to this visit, Governor Abbott also met with officials from SK Signet, a company investing $37 million to build a new electric vehicle charger manufacturing facility in Plano, Texas.
