Seoul: Prime Minister Han Seong-sook emphasized on Tuesday that the success of the government's "three megaprojects" is heavily reliant on a timely electricity supply and the establishment of a robust power transmission grid.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Han made these comments at the commencement of a Cabinet meeting. The ambitious initiative she referred to involves a national transformation propelled by semiconductors, physical artificial intelligence (AI) and AI data centers, and AI-driven administrative innovation, all of which demand substantial power resources.
"It is no exaggeration to say that the key to the success of the megaprojects hinges on the timely supply of electricity and the early construction of the power transmission network," Han stated. She underscored the critical role of resident cooperation in the development of the power transmission network.
Additionally, Han urged the Cabinet to monitor for any unfair market practices that could inflate prices ahead of the forthcoming Chuseok holiday, noting that inflationary pressures are mounting due to rising oil prices amid the renewed Middle East conflict.
Han also raised concerns about the accelerated spread of influenza and other acute respiratory infections compared to previous years. She called for preemptive actions, such as securing vaccines and ensuring timely vaccinations and medical care for vulnerable groups, including infants, children, and the elderly.
