Trump Defends Announcement of South Korean Investment in Alaska LNG Project

Washington:U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he did not "jump the gun" with his recent announcement of a South Korean investment plan concerning a liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Alaska.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Trump made these comments during a press availability, two days after introducing the first set of South Korea's investment projects in the U.S. under the previous year's bilateral trade deal, which included the LNG project.

The announcement highlighted potential differences with South Korea's stance, as Seoul indicated that its participation in the Alaska project was not yet confirmed. However, the two nations have largely agreed on other projects, such as building a gas-fired power plant in Texas and eight large-scale nuclear power plants.

Trump remarked to reporters at the White House, "I didn't jump the gun. I mean, they were there and they were represented." He added, "And if they don't want to do it, that's okay with me. I'll just charge them more."
