Daejeon: A day after his LG Twins completed a huge comeback win over the Hanwha Eagles in the Korean Series, manager Youm Kyoung-youb said Friday the momentum is fully behind his club. The Twins scored six runs in the top of the ninth inning for a 7-4 victory in Game 4 of the best-of-seven Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) championship series Thursday night at Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark in the central city of Daejeon. The Twins grabbed a 3-1 series lead and will secure their second title in three years with a victory Friday night in Daejeon.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Youm expressed the significance of reaching three wins first in the Korean Series during his pregame media availability, emphasizing the dramatic effort by his players to reach this pivotal point. “And our players pushed us to that point in such dramatic fashion. I think we have the momentum on our side,” Youm stated. Despite the Eagles’ desire to extend the series, the Twins are focused on concluding the series swiftly.
Youm further conveyed his eagerness to finish the series promptly, saying, “I want to get it done as quickly as possible. I am sure the players will feel the same way as they get ready for this game.”
Reflecting on past experiences, Youm noted differences in team dynamics compared to two years ago when the Twins also achieved comeback victories on their path to the Korean Series title. “Back then, the guys basically gave up hope, but we somehow ended up winning those games,” he remarked. “This year, even when we’re down, there’s still the feeling that we can come back, and I find that to be a big positive.”
