U.S. Calls for Diplomacy After North Korea’s Latest Missile Engine Test

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following North Korea's announcement of a successful test of a solid-fuel engine for an intermediate hypersonic missile, the United States urged Pyongyang to halt its "provocative" and "destabilizing" actions and to return to diplomatic negotiations.

According to Yonhap News Agency, the U.S. government has expressed concern over North Korea's continued military developments. The call for diplomacy comes in the wake of North Korea's Korean Central News Agency reporting on the regime's ground jet test of the missile engine, signaling an escalation in its military capabilities.

The State Department emphasized the importance of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) engaging in substantive dialogue to address military risks and pursue a sustainable peace on the Korean Peninsula. This appeal for engagement follows recent North Korean military exercises involving super-large multiple rocket launchers.
