According to Yonhap News Agency, the official's remarks were a response to speculations following President Trump's recent engagement with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Last week, Trump did not address a reporter's inquiry about whether his objective in reengaging with Kim remains denuclearization. This non-response has led to worries that the U.S. might shift its policy towards more immediate goals like arms control and tension reduction rather than complete denuclearization.
