Up 2-0, Kia Tigers Aim for Korean Series Sweep Over Samsung Lions

DAEGU: The Kia Tigers have taken a commanding 2-0 lead in the Korean Series against the Samsung Lions, and the team is now focused on securing a series sweep. After winning the first two games at their home field, the Tigers are preparing to continue their momentum as the series shifts to Daegu Samsung Lions Park for Games 3 and 4. According to Yonhap News Agency, the Tigers are eager to conclude the series without returning to their home ground, Gwangju-Kia Champions Field. Veteran designated hitter Choi Hyoung-woo expressed the team's intention to win in four games, emphasizing the importance of not giving the Lions any chance to rally. Choi, who has firsthand experience with comeback victories, recalled the 2013 series when the Lions overcame a 3-1 deficit to win the title. Reliever Jeon Sang-hyun echoed Choi's ambitions for a sweep, acknowledging that while winning in Gwangju would be enjoyable, the focus remains on clinching the title as soon as possible. Jeon's performance in the suspended Game 1 was critical, as he managed to prevent the Lions from extending their lead, allowing the Tigers to stage a comeback and secure a 5-1 victory. Jeon, a Daegu native, noted the added motivation of competing against his hometown team in the Korean Series. His confidence remains high, undeterred by the hitter-friendly environment of the Daegu stadium. Meanwhile, James Naile, who pitched effectively in Game 1 before its suspension, is set to return for Game 4. Naile plans to rely on his signature sweeper pitch, which has been effective throughout the postseason. As the series continues, the Tigers remain determined to capitalize on their strong start and avoid extending the series beyond Daegu. With both players and pitchers maintaining their aggressive approach, the team is hopeful of celebrating a championship victory sooner rather than later.
