Venues, Fixtures Set for Tottenham, Newcastle Preseason Matches in South Korea


Seoul: The venues and fixtures for preseason matches in South Korea for Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have been set.



According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korean streaming service Coupang Play announced Friday that Newcastle will face Team K League, a squad of All-Stars from the domestic league, at 8 p.m. on July 30 at Suwon World Cup Stadium in Suwon, just south of Seoul, as part of the “Coupang Play Series.” It is an annual event by Coupang Play that invites European clubs for summer exhibitions.



Then at 8 p.m. on Aug. 3 at Seoul World Cup Stadium, Newcastle will face Tottenham, their fellow Premier League club captained by South Korean superstar Son Heung-min. This will be Tottenham’s third visit to South Korea in four years for the Coupang Play Series. The August match will be the first all-Premier League showdown since the series launched in 2022. Tottenham won the UEFA Europa League, while Newcastle captured the English Football League Cup this past season.



In addition to the matches, Newcastle and Team K League will have an open training session on July 29 at Suwon World Cup Stadium. The open training session for Newcastle and Tottenham will be Aug. 2 at Goyang Stadium, just northwest of Seoul.



Tickets are available only on Coupang Play’s official app. The priority presale for the first match will open at 8 p.m. June 25, and that for the second match will start at 8 p.m. June 26. The presale tickets are available only to subscribers of Coupang Plays’ “Sports Pass.” The general sale for the first match starts at 8 p.m. June 27, followed by that for the second match at 8 p.m. July 4.
