Seoul: South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol announced on Wednesday that he plans to lift emergency martial law through a Cabinet meeting. This statement came just hours after he had declared the law, accusing the nation’s opposition of engaging in “anti-state” activities that he claimed were paralyzing his government. In his televised address, Yoon confirmed that troops deployed under martial law have been withdrawn.
According to Yonhap News Agency, following President Yoon’s declaration, the National Assembly swiftly passed a resolution urging the lifting of martial law. The United States also emphasized the importance of resolving any political disputes through peaceful means.
