Doha: 42dot, Hyundai Motor Group’s global software research startup, announced on Monday the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Qatar-based investment firm Protocol Capital Group. The partnership is set to focus on the development of smart city solutions and robotaxi services in Doha, Qatar, as part of broader efforts to create a mobility-driven smart city.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the agreement will see the two companies collaborate on demonstrating advanced smart city solutions and autonomous driving services in downtown Doha. 42dot will be responsible for providing mobility services, which include operating and maintaining robotaxi services that rely on autonomous driving technology. Additionally, 42dot will handle the management, integration, and analysis of urban mobility data, contributing to the smart city infrastructure.
The collaboration aligns with Qatar’s National Vision 2030, an initiative that aims to transform the country into a smart city by the year 2030. The two companies are planning to expand their cooperation gradually to support this national goal.
“This collaboration will be an opportunity to expand 42dot’s technology and innovation on a global scale,” said 42dot CEO Song Chang-hyeon. “Together with Protocol Capital Group, we will lead the global smart city model and set new standards for future cities.”
