SEOUL — Hong Myung-bo has been named the new head coach of the South Korean men's national football team, announced by the Korea Football Association (KFA) on Sunday. The appointment marks Hong's return to a role he previously held from 2013 to 2014.
According to Yonhap News Agency, a press conference hosted by technical director Lee Lim-saeng is scheduled for Monday to discuss details of Hong's appointment. Hong, aged 55, is celebrated for leading Ulsan Hyundai FC to consecutive K League 1 championships in recent years. His previous tenure as national team coach concluded after South Korea's exit in the group stage of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
