SEOUL - The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) announced the completion of a 12.8 billion-won (US$9.3 million) project to deploy advanced handheld transceivers that enable communication in challenging environments, including underground facilities.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the newly introduced devices are equipped with mutual repeater functions that extend their range and facilitate communication in locations where radio waves are typically obstructed. This technological enhancement is part of an effort to bolster the operational capabilities of South Korea's special forces, particularly in scenarios involving potential threats from North Korea. A DAPA official highlighted that the deployment of these sophisticated communication tools is expected to significantly enhance the effectiveness of the special forces.
