SEOUL - Unionized workers at Samsung Electronics declared an indefinite general strike on Wednesday, marking a historic escalation in labor disputes at the tech giant.
According to Yonhap News Agency, The National Samsung Electronics Union, representing a significant portion of the company's workforce, initiated the indefinite strike after a planned three-day strike concluded without any engagement from the company regarding wage negotiations. The union had originally scheduled a subsequent five-day strike starting July 15 but opted for an indefinite action due to the lack of dialogue. This move intensifies the labor action, which is the largest in Samsung Electronics' 55-year history, as workers demand significant adjustments to their pay and working conditions.
