SEOUL — Hyundai Motor Co. announced a significant partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) on Wednesday, committing to support the UN agency with electric vehicles (EVs) and the necessary infrastructure.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Under the new agreement, Hyundai will provide its Ioniq 5 electric vehicles to key WFP offices globally and will also fund the development of EV operational infrastructure in those regions. This collaboration is part of a broader initiative by Hyundai to assist the WFP in reducing its reliance on fossil fuels and to contribute to the construction of EV charging and renewable energy systems across its operations. Hyundai's President CEO Chang Jae-hoon emphasized the company's commitment to supporting the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and addressing the global food crisis through sustainable mobility solutions. Cindy McCain, WFP's executive director, highlighted the partnership as a critical step towards achieving environmental and operational efficiency goals within the agency.
