PARIS — South Korean archers Kim Woo-jin and Lim Si-hyeon secured the mixed team gold medal in archery at the Paris Olympics on Friday, marking South Korea's third archery gold and seventh overall gold at the games. The duo dominated the final, defeating Germany with a set score of 6-0 at Invalides, in the heart of the French capital.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim and Lim have previously contributed to South Korea's gold tally in Paris by winning in their respective men's and women's team events. They now join sabre fencer Oh Sang-uk as double gold medalists for South Korea at these games, with both archers also poised to compete for a third gold in the individual competitions.
The mixed team event, which was first introduced at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics, saw its second iteration in Paris. South Koreans Kim Je-deok and An San won the inaugural gold in this category, setting a high standard that Kim and Lim upheld with their impeccable performance on Friday. This victory brings Kim Woo-jin's personal tally to four Olympic golds, tying him with three other athletes for the most Olympic golds won by a South Korean Olympian.
